I WAS WATCHING...
watching MTP, Sunday morning. First let me say this, David Gregory, in my opinion is awful as a replacement for the late Tim Russert. Russert was a journalist David Gregory is a "company man". Corporate to the core. Concerned not so much about journalistic integrity, but moreso about his job and the ability to have access to controversial Republicans like Newt Gingrich and Senator John McCain. Rather than offend either of these two LIARS Gregory will allow them to LIE openly and not refute the LIE. He's all Corporate all the time. That's of course, is my opinion.
HOWEVER THIS...
Sunday General Colin Powell was aired so I managed to stomach MTP. General Powell (R) gave an adept factual accounting of the Republican party's race problem. The GOP has a huge problem with race, racism, changing demographics. It's as obvious as the color of my skin is a glowing brown tone. I appreciate the fact that some leading Republicans admit Republicans have a problem with racial resentment and intolerance. Many more especially Congressional members need to admit this and correct what admittingly some know they themselves perpetuate, instruct and appeal to in their constituency. Especially on Republican sponsored Fox News.
GEN. COLIN POWELL ON THE REPUBLICANS DARK VEIN OF INTOLERANCE..
This is a hard topic for many Americans especially European Americans. They seem in large part to have grown weary with the fact of racism in this Country. It is wearisome that at this state it still exist and is institutional in this Country almost a genetic malformation. It does exist and it needs to be called out as General Powell so instructionally does it here. After that hopefully the miracle of changing hearts and minds can effect even the reddest of the red states.
more too come

As a person of color, I'm going to disagree with your assessment of the host. He does a fine job, asks the hard questions, maybe they are not the questions you would ask, but that doesn't mean he is poor at his job. As people of color we don't need to fan the flames of the divide in our country, but to have thoughtful, meaningful conversation.
General Powell has been saying these things for years, he is a great American, and one that has fought for our freedoms, and deserves respect for his contribution. Freedom that offers you the right to write your opinion in this blog. However, I feel your remarks are some backhanded compliment to the General. I hope I'm wrong, and you are using your free speech, that he assisted in providing the country with his service, in a more positive way. Otherwise, we who lean left tend to play into the hands of those too whom we disagree with, and stoop to their level. Peace
Disagree. As you said it is freedom of speech. As I said my opinion of David Gregory is he is a Corporate tool. Not concerned with facts but his paycheck. As far as my so called playing into the hands of those I freely critique? Understand this, “Fact of the Matter is a very left of center critique of American politics and the players involved". Please try and keep that in mind if you happen upon this page my "anonymous" person of color friend. As far as General Powell and my opinion of him and his stature and statesmanship. One word. "Respect". Even though he affiliates himself with the Republicans. Who in my opinion are everything and the very vilesest of what is wrong with this Country. Again, as for General Powell one word "Respect"
